A New Terminator Trilogy Is In The Works, Schwarzenegger To Return

I personally never believed that the Terminator franchise would get a reboot, particularly thinking about how epic the orginally story was from the starting. I guess I should not be surprised although, contemplating that we are in an age of remakes and reboots. And now that the really franchise that helped enhance director James Cameron's profession back in 1984 is back in the headlines with a new press release courtesy of Paramount Images, I would not be surprised if Avatar gets rebooted.

Not to sound cynical or something, particularly because I help very good movies in general, no matter whether they are reboots or not. Nonetheless, it is a bit awkward that we by no means really see the end of the war among John Connor and the Human Resistance, and the Terminators hell bent on eliminating all humanity, specially right after the events in Terminator: Salvation, which I enjoyed (I sort of believed it was a reboot already).

Oh effectively, if there is potential right here to revitalize the fanbase and reintroduce the now 30-year old franchise to a new generation of sci-fi geeks, then I say go for it.

On that note, here is the crucial stuff:

Skydance Productions, Annapurna Photographs and Paramount Pictures have jointly announced they will companion on a rebooted “TERMINATOR” film, to be released by Paramount Pictures on June 26, 2015.

The initial in a stand-alone trilogy, “TERMINATOR” will be developed by Megan Ellison of Annapurna and David Ellison of Skydance. Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake of Skydance will serve as executive producers. Laeta Kalorgridis (“Avatar,” “Shutter Island”) and Patrick Lussier (“Drive Angry”) are attached to write the screenplay.

Launched in 1984 with star Arnold Schwarzenegger as the title character, “TERMINATOR” spanned three subsequent films, which have earned more than $ 1 billion at the worldwide box workplace.

David Ellison most lately executive made, along with his partners at Paramount, “World War Z,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and “Mission: Not possible – Ghost Protocol”. A 5th installment of in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is in active improvement, along with a 3rd film in the “G.I. Joe” franchise, among other films.

Megan Ellison most not too long ago made the Academy Award®-nominated “Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Master” and executive developed “Spring Breakers” via her Annapurna Images banner and has David O. Russell’s “American Hustle,” Spike Jonze’s “Her,” and Bennett Miller’s “Foxcatcher” set for release later this year.

In case you missed it, it was recently reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is at the moment becoming picked for the major function in The Toxic Avenger reboot, is coming back to the Terminator franchise as properly, as...you guessed it, a Terminator.

The former governor of California is also set for another Conan film and a sequel to the 1988 Schwarzenegger/DeVito action comedy, Twins, referred to as Triplets, also starring Eddie Murphy.

So what do you guys think? Are you eager to see a new trilogy? Will you miss the story of Kyle Reese, Sarah Connor and son, John? Feel totally free to comment below or on Facebook.
