Max Vs. Kruger: A New Featurette + New Clips For #ELYSIUM

IGN has a new Tv spot Elysium that attributes actor Matt Damon in the function of Max, who is in the fight of his life and that of millions left on Earth. The clip above shows more grit and higher octane action that also reveals the squads of armed killer robots, led by actor Sharlto Copley as the bio-suited cyber-enhanced mercenary, Kruger.

The new television spot comes just a week away from the film's theatrical release on August 9, 2013 from Sony TriStar, and is ready to blow your thoughts to smithereens courtesy of writer, co-producer and director Neill Blomkamp, in his second turn at the helm with Copley considering that the 2009 science-fiction apartheid fantasy thriller, District 9. And not for nothing either for Blomkamp, a Johannesburg native, who admires that his films are viewed with bigger depth and which means, as opposed to the ire he shares for the film's lately-generated dialogue relating to the said political context carried in its narrative, centered on a distant future divided in between the haves and the have-nots on a galactic scale. “If there is not a deep core purpose for a film current, what is the point?” he tells L.A. Times Hero Complicated columnist Rebecca Keegan. “For me to be known as a filmmaker that makes films that have a point, I’m stoked. But to be pigeonholed into political films, I would place a gun in my mouth if that is how my career ended up.”

Elysium also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, Wagner Moura and William Fichtner.
