Hong Kong Gets The Director's Cut Of SNOWPIERCER

Twitchfilm Asian cinema contributor James Marsh has announced confirmation through Twitter that Hong Kong will be getting the original Korean version of co-writer and director Bong Joon-Ho's contained sci-fi action thriller, Snowpiercer on November 28, 2013, courtesy of Golden Scene. The news is a key score for fans across the world eagerly waiting to see the director's reduce of the film, which has received constructive reviews further ornamented by the approval of the authors of the original novel since its South Korean relase.

Aside from Japan, Hong Kong is just the most recent addition on a list of largely unknown nations that will get to see the director's reduce of the film on a multi-territorial level, in addition to the previously reported version of Bong's film to be released in France from Wild Side Films, in association with Le Pacte. In addition, U.S. fans are nonetheless awaiting details on just how the version will be introduced to North America when it is ultimately released, off the heels of reports that the film was being slashed by 20-minutes for U.S. distribution from The Weinstein Organization, news that was reportedly denied to be true by the director himself during his attendance at the 39th Annual Deauville American Film Festival.

Based on a screenplay by Bong and co-writer Kelly Masterson, Snowpiercer is the live-action adaptation of the French graphic novel, "Le Transperceniege" by Benjamin Legrand and Jacques Lob. Set in the year 2035, a failed attempt to stave off worldwide warming has left Earth covered in intense cold and snow, forcing remaining survivors on a motion engine-powered mega train that circumnavigates the earth year-round. In the end, with a class system dividing the rich and wealthy from the poor passengers in the back of the train, a revolution ensues.
